Post Ride 2024

Duration: 4th to 7th of August

Experience Trøndelag at its best

We hereby invite you to a trip through the pleasant county Trøndelag, its small towns, valleys and all the way to its magical coast. The tour ends with a barbecue at Harley Davidson Trondheim.

For those who want to extend the gathering with a few extra days, we arrange next year´s Post Ride on exciting and varied motorcycle roads. The tour runs over four days from the 4th to the 7th of August.
The trip is in total about 1170 km long. The daily stages will differ between 300 to 350 km, so there will be time for stops along the way and plenty of time for socializing with new and old biker friends in the evenings.

Day 1: 347 km

The starting point will be at Savalen on Sunday morning. From there we drive via Røros and Støren. The journey then continues along the famous "Laksevegen" (Salmon road) to the islands Hitra and Frøya.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at Hotell Frøya, where we get free access to one of Norway's lowest sky bars.
Frøya is known as a paradise for anglers. The combination of the cultural landscape with over 6000 islands, islets and skerries, and a short distance out to the open sea, makes the area ideal for all types of fishing.
Salmon farming has made several of the inhabitants of Frøya some of Norway's richest people. One of Norway's largest private homes of almost 1,750 square meters can be found on this island.

Day 2: 361 km

This will be the longest stage of the whole trip. Today´s starting point is Frøya Hotel, from where we´ll ride out to the picturesque fishing village of Titran. It has recently been the setting of a well known Norwegian black comedy, "Everybody hates Johan", which put Titran on the map also for those outside Trøndelag.
From Titran we drive across Frøya, into the tunnel that connects the islands Frøya and Hitra below sea level. After 5.3 km we reach Hitra, which is the 7th largest island in Norway and the largest island south of Vesterålen. It is surrounded with more than 3200 smaller islands, islets and skerries. Hitra is also known for its large population of deer and roe deer, so you need to have a look out for them while driving on the island.

After a great round trip, we again drive into what is the world's deepest underwater tunnel (264 meters below sea level and 5.6 km long), that takes us back to the mainland. From there we continue to drive great motorcycle roads along the region Ytre Snillfjord and end up at Kyrksæterøra, where we´ll have a lovely lunch at "Cafe Koselig" (the cozy café).
After lunch, the trip continues over mountainous Hemnekjølen to Orkanger and further on to the region Ørlandet, which houses Norway's combat flight air base. You better hold on and stay safe on your motorcycle when an F35 arrives at a low altitude above us 😊.
Ørlandet is a fertile gravel plain in the shape of a peninsula, that clearly differs from the topography of neighbouring municipalities. There are very few outlying areas in the municipality. Most of the land is used by the air force.

We eat dinner and stay overnight at Hovde Gård which also has a Spa and wellness department.

Day 3: 354 km

The day starts with a trip out to Stokkøya Strandhotell, which in recent years has become one of the region's most exotic experiences. Here one can enjoy the characteristic architecture, beautiful nature and a 400 meter long, sandy beach. After a visit there, we´ll head up north to Bessaker, and have lunch at "Robu-Kro Bessaker". After lunch, the trip continues to Namdalseid along the Trondheimsfjord and all the way down to idyllic Straumen.

We will have dinner and spend the last night of the trip at Jægtvolden Fjordhotel.

The tour ends at Harley-Davidson Midt-Norge, in Trondheim, where the grill is fired up upon our arrival. There will be an opportunity to have lunch, refreshments, and shop in the store for those who want to.
